Brew #77

Mashed Potato Brains.

We're gonna remember that 👆: it's how my sunshine friend in Kansas described her luteal phase lack-for-words during our biweekly friend meetup and sheeeeeesh, I am feeling that this week!

In fact, I've been slowly descending into the pre-bleed fog of luteal phase since...Monday? Which means, I've been wrestling myself for the entirety of going on 3 days now because 🗣️ THE. WORDS. JUST. WON'T. COME.

And when I'm at a loss for words in English, I remember—I’m fluent in many other languages.

Most of them unspoken.

I speak the language of grief and the language of love.
I speak the language of symbols and archetypes.
I speak the language of the sub- and unconscious mind.
I speak the language of rhythm and patterns.

And when the words fail me—as they have this week—it’s those languages that show up and carry me.

So, with a tongue attuned to symbolism, I realized: this brain fog I'm feeling? It’s symbolic.

When we’re caught in fog, what do we do? Slow waaaaay down.

You can’t rely on sight, so you lean into your other senses. Your instinct. Fog is an invitation to drop into the body and feel your way forward.

Which means brain fog isn’t failure. It’s my nervous system waving a flare gun and saying:
“time to turn on your hazards and proceed with caution.”

And how can I be mad at that? How can I not be in awe of the genius of feminine design?

It’s then the language of rhythm that lets me hold reverence for my own experience—even the crunchy parts.

We can’t expect ourselves to perform at the same level every single day, week in and week out.

We’re not supposed to.

That’s not our rhythm.

Practical Woo Tip

(aka: a reminder your body isn’t broken)

As much as we talk about the Moon (and you know I love her—I seek her friendship and validation weekly), she’s actually second-in-command when it comes to feminine rhythms.

First place? That goes to your internal moon—your menstrual cycle.

That’s the real moon to follow.
That’s the rhythm your body is tracking, shaping, and living by.
That’s the cycle that tells you when to rest, rise, and manifest.

We've got it all backwards. It's not that the planets affect US.

The Universe isn't out there. YOU are the Universe experiencing itself. The planets are merely a mirror for the macrocosm that exists within you.

So YOUR MOON will give you the heartbeat of your life in a way that lunar tracking never will.

However, what lunar tracking can give you is validation for what phase or season of life you're in right now based on when you bleed.

Menstrual Moon Phases

When you bleed can tell you *a lot* about yourself

If you bleed within 2-3 days of a New Moon, you're considered to be in a White Moon Cycle. This is the phase of The Mother (not that you need to be one, at all). A "mothering" phase of life speaks to bringing things into creation, incubating big ideas, and deeply nourishing yourself (physically, mentally, spiritually, energetically). This is a time when you are supposed to be receiving energy, not giving all yours away.

If you bleed after the New Moon but before the Full Moon, you're in a Pink Moon Cycle. This is a transition period, you're coming out of either giving or receiving a lot of energy and the tides are shifting for you. In a Pink Moon Cycle, you're gathering resources and momentum and preparing to step out into more visibility -- but not yet. This is a time for resourcing yourself for the road ahead. You are emerging.

If you bleed within 2-3 days of a Full Moon, you're considered to be in a Red Moon Cycle. This is the phase of the Priestess, the healers, and the wise women of the village. Since the Full Moon is a time of illumination and our bleeds are considered our time of intention setting -- Red Moon Cyclers are effectually "planting their seeds" during a time of full visibility, which means they have an extra punch of energetic momentum and alignment, getting their message + magic out into the world.

If you bleed after the Full Moon but before the next New Moon, you're said to be in a Purple Moon Phase. Similarly to the Pink Moon Cycle, this is a cycle of transition. Typically, this symbolizes a downshift of energy; you're going from giving a lot of energy or being high energy to conserving more of that for yourself. This is a time for cocooning, rest, and reflection.

If you no longer bleed (due to menopause), it is said that your inner moon has set and your place in society has been elevated to that of Crone and Elder. These are not said with any sort of condensation -- it is a gift to grow old and a symbol of knowledge that has been earned. You are now allied with the Moon herself, a keeper of wisdom and a lighthouse unto others.

If you identify as a woman but do not bleed, then you are powerfully allied with the moon herself, a litmus for the collective. You are a representative of collective cycles and energies and hold an important seat of healing and alignment.

From Ash's Corner

Can I tell you something a little wild??

(Trust—I’m gonna do it anyway.)

Back in February, I had the most off-kilter period of my life. Emotional AF. I felt like I was spiritually purging for a week straight (slightly hyperbolic—but it was 5 days of intensity).

And then? On the March eclipse—the actual Full Moon eclipse—I got my period.

WE IN A RED MOON CYCLE BABYYYY.

And I love that for me.

I love that the stars literally aligned and my body was like, “Yup, we’re syncing up, let’s go.”
It’s like my inner moon nodded at the outer one. And in that nod, I got my marching orders.

After this luteal cave and a good rest-bleed sesh?
It’s pedal to the floor, girl.

Which is good, because… I’m lowkey launching four things right now. 😅

WANT TO FIND YOUR RHYTHM?

1:1 Readings 🪐

Everything I’ve said today boils down to this:
Rhythm is the pattern behind the pattern.

When you know your rhythm, you can move with life instead of against it.
You know what’s happening now, and you get a glimpse of what’s next.

That’s exactly what my Find Your Flow Readings are about.
✨ They’re 1:1 astrology readings designed to help you uncover your personal rhythm for the season ahead—so you can stop fighting the fog and start moving in sync.

And guess what? They’re only $100 until tomorrow evening.
After that, the price goes up.

In cosmic camaraderie,

WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW 🪐

WHAT’S COMING NEXT 🌛

The Sun enters Taurus on Saturday, April 19th, sending us into the Season of the Bull. Fear not, if you're needing rest after the cleansing burn and fiery breakthroughs of Aries season —Taurus season promises steady (sustainable!) growth that leaves plenty of time to rest and smell the flowers, too. Prepare for more grounded, stabilizing energy this next season!

Pluto will be going retrograde in Aquarius starting May 4th, 2025 and lasting until October 13th. We’ll have an entire issue of The Stir coming out regarding this however, be prepared to review, revisit, and reflect on themes of power and transformation – both on a personal and collective level over this period of time. Additionally, we have a Full Moon in Scorpio happening Monday, May 12th that will be a review, release, and harvesting of whatever has been growing (or festering) since November.
