🥄The Stir ✨ sag szn

Your weekly Practical Woo wake up call
Brew #63

My kids set my house on fire, I almost choked on a lego, and I've been sick for 3 weeks.

PAUSE.

Let's rewind and try that again.

Ahem.

HAPPY SAGITTARIUS SEASON! THE SEASON OF ABSOLUTE CHAOS, OF SMILING WHEN SHIT HITS THE FAN! THE SIGN OF EXISTENTIAL HUMOR, TRUTH SEEKING, AND FINDING THE SPARK IN THE DARK!

That last one is actually the entire point of Sagittarius season. Let me explain what I mean...

Every year on my birthday, I pull a new card from a special deck I reserve just for my personal birthday readings. Whatever card I pull is the energy I'm meant to work with that year. Last year, it was "Shadow Side," (and that ended up being so true).

Life is on a bullet train this year, speeding by so fast. It was October before I realized that I never pulled my birthday card! I pulled out my deck and started shuffling.

Now, normally, I leave my previous card pull out of the deck, so I can draw a fresh card. But I had a little ✨intuition✨ that I wasn't done with Shadow Side energy. So I shuffled it back in and said to myself "if I'm right it'll just pop back out" and what do you know, I barely finished that sentence before it did pop back out. (And I mean, like, FLY out of the deck.)

So I prepared myself for an extended spooky season. I buckled in, ready to let the darkness of the season teach me something new about Shadow work. I was ready to embrace the suck of tending my wounds and doing more work on my triggers.

So I did.

I made appointments with my trauma therapist. I did the inner work. I cried, journaled, and reflected on the darkest parts of myself, humanity, and reality right now —fully expecting to be blindsided by the ugly underbelly of whatever I'd been avoiding. Clearly Shadow Side card meant that I had left something overlooked, right?

Wrong, so so so wrong. You know what's come through instead?

LIGHT.
OPTIMISM.
HOPE.
LOVE.
A VIVID SPARK IN THE COLD DARKNESS.

I was prepared to be haunted but the energy is clearly illuminated darkness and joyful shadow.

Sagittarius season is hope and optimism and that spark in the dark as Winter's Night descends upon us.

Practical Woo Tip

The mammalian instinct to hibernate is GOING SO HARD RIGHT NOW.

It gets dark at Six O' Clock and suddenly I become a medieval peasant woman clutching her blankets closer and ladling soup out for my kids.

(Tell me I'm not the only one that feels this way.)

But amid that is also the sense of wonderment I get looking at our lit up Christmas tree, lighting our dining table candles, and turning on our mood lights every evening with Christmas lofi playing in the background.

To say it simpler: we are meant to celebrate this time of year. The darkest parts of our life path are easier to navigate when they're punctuated by hopeful twinkling lights.

You don't think it's coincidence that so many cultures have a light-filled festival or holiday of some sort during the Darkest Part of The Year (October 31st to December 21st)? Off the top of my head I can think of:

  • Diwali
  • Hanukkah
  • Kwanzaa
  • Christmas
  • Yule
  • Saturnalia

...just to name a few.

So, this week, I want you to consider: how do you invite light into your darkness? What is your Spark in the Dark? How does Sagittarius Season encourage you to find joy in the shadows?

FIND YOUR SPARK IN THE DARK 🔥

1st House (Self & Identity):
Your spark in the dark lies in your ability to inspire others with your boundless optimism and adventurous spirit. Sagittarius in the 1st house asks you to show up boldly as the seeker, lighting the way for yourself and others by living authentically. How can you share your light through your enthusiasm and truth?

2nd House (Values & Money):
With Sagittarius here, your spark is found in exploring abundance—not just materially, but spiritually. You find light in generosity, in valuing experiences over possessions, and in creating wealth that aligns with your values. How can you bring joy and meaning to how you earn, spend, and share?

3rd House (Communication & Learning):
Sagittarius in the 3rd house lights up your curiosity and love for learning. Your spark is in sharing ideas that inspire, connecting people to new perspectives, and finding humor in everyday interactions. How can you illuminate the world around you through storytelling, teaching, or simply asking thoughtful questions?

4th House (Home & Family):
Your spark in the dark comes from creating a home full of warmth, learning, and growth. Sagittarius in the 4th house invites you to find joy by expanding your emotional roots, perhaps through family traditions or by exploring the history that connects you. How can you create a home that feels like a sanctuary of hope and adventure?

5th House (Creativity & Pleasure):
Sagittarius here makes your spark burn brightly through play, passion, and self-expression. You light up when you create joyfully, whether through art, romance, or embracing spontaneity. How can you channel your inner adventurer to create more moments of unfiltered fun and creativity?

6th House (Health & Service):
Your spark in the dark lies in finding meaning and joy in your daily routines and acts of service. Sagittarius here reminds you that even small, consistent efforts can create big ripples of light. How can you approach your work and wellness with an adventurous spirit and a sense of purpose?

7th House (Partnerships & Relationships):
With Sagittarius in the 7th house, your spark comes from relationships that inspire growth, adventure, and mutual exploration. You light up when you connect deeply with others who share your love of discovery and truth-seeking. How can you bring more light and optimism into your partnerships?

8th House (Transformation & Shadows):
Sagittarius here teaches you to find light even in the darkest places. Your spark comes from your willingness to seek truth and wisdom in times of transformation, loss, or shadow work. How can you trust that even the most challenging moments hold the potential for joy and deeper understanding?

9th House (Philosophy & Higher Learning):
This is Sagittarius’s natural home, and your spark comes from your boundless curiosity and love of learning. You light up when you explore new philosophies, travel, or expand your horizons. How can you invite more wonder into your life and share that joy with others?

10th House (Career & Public Life):
With Sagittarius here, your spark lies in bringing optimism and vision to your career or public role. You’re at your best when you inspire others through your big-picture thinking and enthusiasm. How can you align your work with your values and bring more light to the world through your purpose?

11th House (Community & Aspirations):
Your spark in the dark comes from connecting with like-minded people and working toward shared goals. Sagittarius here asks you to bring light to your communities by inspiring hope, possibility, and a sense of adventure. How can you dream bigger and invite others to share in that vision?

12th House (Spirituality & Collective Unconscious):
Sagittarius in the 12th house shines a light on your spiritual connection to the collective. Your spark comes from finding hope and meaning in the unseen realms, trusting that joy and optimism can be found even in solitude. How can you light your inner world with faith and share that quiet wisdom with others?

From Ash's Corner

Scorpio season was a tortured tour through one of the most politically charged times of year (I had plenty to analyze for my 12 House Rhythm Almanac last month). Then I cannon-balled from there into my First House season by starting my period on the first day of Sagittarius season.

I have ALSO had 6 illnesses in the course of 3 weeks. I'm just now regaining my voice after losing it for the SECOND TIME.

Then last week while I was frosting a fresh batch of pumpkin cookies, I found a singular lego arm embedded in the tub of cream cheese frosting.

It was a crowning moment of chaos to a day that felt very Sagittarian.

My kids were already in bed for the evening (I put them to bed early that night because my youngest set the carpet on fire when I was in the other room).

(It's fine.)

(I mean, it's not fine because my carpet is melted in 4 places now but my other two boys reacted so fast and bravely by stamping it out).

(I then spent 35 minutes after that doing nervous system release exercises with my 3 boys to help them metabolize their terror and adrenaline).

So anyways - back to the cookies. The lego in the frosting was truly icing on the cake (or cookie). I plucked it out and just laughed until there were tears streaming down my cheeks.

(If I didn't laugh, I'd cry).

This all feels like a very on-brand Sagittarius experience, honestly. Since this is my first house season, it feels exceptionally existential (Sagittarians are existential thinkers anyways so being a Sag Rising during Sag Season just feels like kind of a lot mentally, if I'm being real with you. Solidarity to all my other Sag Risings ✊).

In short, life is LIFING so hard for me right now, but there is nothing that will wipe the smile off my face. I will continue to laugh in ironic amusement, even if it sends me into a coughing fit thereafter.

Here's to keeping our spark alive, fam! 🔥🥂

Hey Woo Crew, it's time to woosah

December 15th @ 11am EST

Life has been LIFING so hard lately. Between losing my voice (twice), my kids trying to burn down the house (it’s fine…kind of), and the chaos of Sagittarius season (lego arms in the frosting, anyone?), I feel like I’ve barely had time to breathe. If you’re feeling this whirlwind too, this is your sign to pause, light your spark, and join me for the FINAL Woo Crew Workshop of the year!

The full moon this month isn’t asking us to have it all together—it’s asking us to get curious, speak our truths, and connect with others in meaningful ways. Under this energy, it’s the perfect time to reflect on who truly hears us and explore the stories we’re ready to tell (or rewrite).

JOIN ME SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15TH AT 11AM EST to go deep and recharge together.

PREPARING FOR THE WINTER SOLSTICE

YULE IS DRAWING NEAR!

I just realized the other day that I have time to prepare for Yule this year because it's on a Saturday!!!

Yule, for me, is a spiritual holiday. Spiritual in the sense that I feel connected to the seasons, I feel connected to my fellow human, and I feel connected to those that came before me.

Yule is a space to honor the darkness by using it to dream. To seek inspiration and dream wildly about possibilities. I have a few traditions I do every year, one is called 12 Magical Nights. I've never really shared it widely before...would you want to hear about how to do the 12 Magical Nights of Yule for our next issue of The Stir?

Hit rely and let me know!

WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW 🪐

WHAT’S COMING NEXT 🌛

The Sun enters Taurus on Saturday, April 19th, sending us into the Season of the Bull. Fear not, if you're needing rest after the cleansing burn and fiery breakthroughs of Aries season —Taurus season promises steady (sustainable!) growth that leaves plenty of time to rest and smell the flowers, too. Prepare for more grounded, stabilizing energy this next season!

Pluto will be going retrograde in Aquarius starting May 4th, 2025 and lasting until October 13th. We’ll have an entire issue of The Stir coming out regarding this however, be prepared to review, revisit, and reflect on themes of power and transformation – both on a personal and collective level over this period of time. Additionally, we have a Full Moon in Scorpio happening Monday, May 12th that will be a review, release, and harvesting of whatever has been growing (or festering) since November.
